Nigerian Dwarf Goats - Stormhaven Farms. We strive to breed for great conformation, high milk production, health, and personality. We chose this breed because their qualities fit so well on the farm. Their small size mean they are easier to manage and require less space than a full sized goat. However, they are still a dairy goat, and a well bred doe can give about 2 quarts a day, depending on her age, size and condition. They are friendly and personable, making them a joy to keep, whether for milking or for pets. Of course, many people love them simply for their personalities, small size, and gorgeous colors.
Because we are living in an urban area, on 1/3 of an acre, we do have to keep a small herd. Right now, we have four does (three of which are bred) and no bucks, though in a few days we will be getting a young buckling from Poppy Patch Farm. Part of my herd management is keeping my herd small; this means that most (if not all) boys will be wethered and sold as pets, while doe kids will be evaluated while. I love my goats fiercely, and they will only be sold to good homes, no matter if they are for milking, breeding, or pets.
